Hello,
This morning the students took out new books in the Learning Commons, then had the opportunity to work on their advertising posters and announcements, as well as their graphing centre work. I have received the complete Math centres work from almost all of the students now, and I hope to receive the final four assignments in the morning. Students who completed all of those tasks, worked on their summaries for the "Three Monks, No Water" story.
For the second block, we were invited by the other Grade 6 class to participate in the entrepreneurship program with them. We had a guest speaker from the business world, Mr. Lemieux, who will help guide us through the completion of our project over the next few months. He told us a little bit about himself and then we got down to work. This year our goal is to set a World Record! We are going to coordinate and publicize an event that will feature the biggest group to ever get together to make sandwiches at one time, in one place. All of the sandwiches will be donated to the Shepherds of Good Hope at the conclusion of the event. Today, as part of the planning stage, the students got into groups, brainstormed ideas and discussed all of the steps we would have to take to ensure the event will be a success. It was the first step of a very exciting journey.
Working with Mr. Lemieux.
Please remember to complete your posters and announcements for the raffles tonight!
Also, just in case the note from last week did not make it home, there is a confirmation information meeting tonight for parents and students at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. The meeting will take place from 7 pm to 9 pm. If you intend to have your child celebrate this sacrament at the church this year, you must attend tonight's information session, or the session being held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014.
Have a great evening.
Mr. Skinner
